Thanksgiving By The Bay
Not heading home for Thanksgiving this year? Did you anticipate that flights would get cheaper if you just held out? Or have you just had enough red eye flights, sandwiched in the middle seat, at the back of the plane next to the bathrooms that you just didn’t feel inspired to make the long trip home this year. Whatever, the reason if you are finding yourself celebrating Thanksgiving in San Francisco this year without your family, don’t fret. Many busy professionals are taking a break from travelling home this Thanksgiving too. Here are some suggestions to fill your day.
A great way to kick start your Turkey Day is with a 5k turkey trot. Here are the links to one being held in Golden Gate Park www.turkeytrailtrot.com and in Silicon Valley http://svturkeytrot.com/ These events are always a great place to meet other fitness minded singles who may also share your same holiday woes.
If you haven’t already secured a place to volunteer on Thanksgiving, I’d like to recommend Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly. On Thanksgiving, it is especially important that no one be alone, this organization needs volunteers (don’t be deceived by the name, men and women are both welcome to help) to share a meal with an elderly person who would otherwise be alone. Here is the link to find out more information http://www.thevolunteercenter2.net/org/opp/9095870.html
If you weren’t lucky enough to have friends who can whip up a gourmet Thanksgiving day meal in San Francisco invite you over to dinner, then follow this link from Zagat’s which lists great restaurants to enjoy your Thanksgiving feast http://www.zagat.com/Blog/Detail.aspx?SCID=39&BLGID=24922 .
